Design-Build (Structural Shell), Precast Supplier

MARION COUNTY, IN. A joint venture by two large general contracting firms needed a time-saving solution to a complex construction problem in a major project the JV team was undertaking for Marion County, Indiana. Plans for the new Marion County Corrections campus included a new detention facility, and conventional Cast-In-Place construction was not going to meet the schedule. The JV team chose Bristol Group’s design-precast-build solution, awarding Bristol Group its largest-ever precast production and erection contract because of the company’s ability to provide a superior quality building on the shortest possible schedule. The photos shown here are of the first phase of an approximately 500,000 SF detention center that is scheduled to open in 2022.

The best part is that we can do it for you, AND we’re ready for your next project!

Original concepts for this 560,000-sf facility for 3,000 inmates called for a cast-in-place concrete superstructure. Due to the risk associated with cast-in-place with regards to schedule and budget, Bristol Group was approached to provide a lower-risk option.

Bristol Group used 3-D modeling software (Revit) to ensure accurate take-off information and pricing. Bristol Group developed a design-build solution that switched the project from post-tension CIP to total precast, which shortened the construction schedule and saved money. The client team chose Bristol Group’s design-manufacture-build solution because of the company’s ability to provide a superior quality building on the shortest possible schedule.

The building was constructed on time and on budget.
