TTAI requested that Bristol Group design and construct a 33-foot-deep press foundation while Bristol Group was already under construction of an 80,000-sf building expansion that also included several pits. Access would be limited and the construction of the pit could not compromise the construction schedule of the ongoing building expansion project or TTAI’s manufacturing operation.
Bristol Group proposed a solution that would give access for heavy equipment, limit impacts to existing conditions during excavation and use shotcrete to speed up construction. Designing the press foundation in-house allowed Bristol Group to procure material early in the process and start construction ahead of schedule.
The project wall completed ahead of schedule and on budget, which allowed for a smooth install of the 3,000 ton press.
